FAQ
We're interested, but how do we know if we're a good fit?
I am happy to schedule a complimentary 30-minute Zoom consultation for college consulting where you can ask questions and we can get to know each other. Both students and parents should definitely attend the meeting. My students have attended both in-state and out-of-state public universities, as well as a number of small private colleges primarily located in the southeast. While I work with a variety of students, I especially enjoy helping those who learn differently.
When should families begin working with you?
Ideally, students should begin working with a college planner by their sophomore year in high school. This gives everyone the opportunity to create a plan that best maximizes the student's college admissions in a calm and thoughtful manner. Virtual and in-person meeting options are available.
CAN YOU HELP WITH TEST PREP?
While I no longer work as a test prep tutor I am happy to explain the standardized testing process to your family and help you decide on a test prep timeline that best meets your student’s needs. I can provide referrals to local test prep providers. Please see this infographic for a comparison of the SAT/ACT
CAN YOU HELP ME IF I AM a TRANSFER STUDENT?
Sure! I have worked with many transfer students and have significant familiarity with the North Carolina community college system. Sometimes what a student thought would be a great college for them does not work out- I get that! Let’s figure out what went wrong and take a look at some new options.
